Keep the faith
For nearly a century, the Miles Family Farm has been more than a place to grow crops; it has been a place where faith, family, and service have been cultivated across generations. After Wilbert Miles’ grandfather moved to Alamance County in 1927, he purchased the farm in 1940 and transformed the land through hard work, creating a legacy that became a gathering place for church picnics, neighborhood baseball games, and community fellowship.
Growing up on the farm shaped both Derrick Miles and his nephew, Jwan Johnson, teaching them responsibility, discipline, and pride while fostering a deep connection to the land and their family’s history. Today, Jwan helps revitalize the farm to preserve its traditions for future generations. Throughout the family’s story, faith has remained their guiding force. Wilbert recalls his father working the fields with little money but unwavering trust in God, passing down the simple but powerful lesson to “keep the faith” through every challenge.
The Miles family hopes their story encourages others to cherish the places, people, and memories that shape their lives. Jwan reminds families to value their land before it is gone, because once it disappears, only photographs remain. Together, Wilbert, Derrick, and Jwan believe that true wealth is found not in possessions, but in faith, family, and the legacy we choose to preserve for future generations.
