Immersive service-learning programs during fall and spring breaks that engage students with new communities while addressing real-world social issues, supported by faculty/staff “learning partners” who enhance the experience.

Program Structure

Domestic and international trips centered on focused issue areas (e.g., housing, food security, sustainability, community development), led by student coordinators with faculty/staff support.

Staff & Faculty Experience

Serve as “learning partners” who mentor student leaders, support trip planning, participate fully in service activities, help manage group dynamics/logistics, and support student coordinators as they guide reflection before, during, and after the experience.

Advantage

Provides a professional and personal development opportunity to engage with students outside traditional roles, contribute expertise in real-world settings, build relationships, and receive a stipend (varies by program) with no personal program cost.

Participation

Selected participants join at no cost (excluding incidental expenses), typically without needing to take vacation time, and are expected to attend pre-departure meetings, training, and the full trip.

Eligibility

Any Elon faculty or staff member (with supervisor’s approval) can apply.
