Online services will be big business. Households will spend a combined $6.1 billion in subscriptions in 1999, more than four times the $ 1.4 billion 1994 total, the report predicts. ‘You cannot buy a computer today that doesn’t have a modem and CD-ROM built in,’ [analyst Richard] Liebhaber said. ‘And these things don’t cost half of what they cost 18 months ago. This is crazy stuff.'”
