Nutshell: Social change, yes -- but the laws of emotional physics can't be repealed.
Vision:3D environments, augmented reality and advanced UI will shortly become part of commonplace worklife, and the resulting cultural and economic change will be massive. However, the endpoint is not mass sociopathy or the abandonment of the real in favor of the ersatz, but rather a broadening of the definition of "authentic experience" against the normal backdrop of human interpersonal dynamics, values and emotional concerns.
