Nutshell: About 4 billion years ago carbon developed its way into life as we know it today. How long will carbon-based life forms last?

Vision:

The only thing stopping the development of a silicon-based life-form on earth is the fact that silicon is harder to form. This element needs help from outside. We are just the help it needs. In about 100 years, we may have machines that contain all the information we ever produced. They will update and collect information far beyond the brain capacity – silicon driven!
