Headline: The Smart Kitchen

Nutshell: On its way to encompassing all parts of our lives, technology will enter our homes, turning daily chores into technological feats.

Vision:

Smart homes are a thing of the very near future – not homes equipped to run themselves, as some might gather, but homes infused with certain aspects of technology so as to make life and daily activities a fair bit easier. The area of the home most affected will be the kitchen. Not only smart appliances that can nearly work themselves, but also the internet right at your fingers. Imagine a counter endowed with a touch pad computer that can provide you with anything from a step-by-step guide on baking to a cooking channel programmed specifically for your needs. This kitchen of the future will bring up a recipe to your exact specifications: leaving out anything you are allergic to, anything the kids don’t like, or anything you do not have on hand in your technologically savvy pantry. Equipped with voice recognition, the kitchen will do anything from turn on the oven to find the exact song you want to hear. Tell the oven to cook the roast for 20 minutes at 425 degrees, then for two hours at 350 and it will readily comply. Minor mishaps than can creep into any meal preparation are avoided with the help of the personalized cooking assistant that is on hand 24/7. Slaving away over a hot stove is a thing of the past.
