At 4:13 a.m. today, August 8, 2024, the National Weather Service issued a Flash Flood Warning for all of central North Carolina though 10:15 this morning. The campus continues to experience heavy rainfall from Tropical Storm Debby, moving across North Carolina and torrential rain is expected across our area through Thursday afternoon.
A total of 3-6 inches of rain is predicted by the time the storms begin to move out of our area by Friday morning. The heavy rain will produce flash flooding and dangerous road conditions are expected in our area throughout the day – if you are driving and encounter flooded roads, turn around.
Instructors for graduate courses will communicate directly with their students about plans for any class meetings scheduled for today, and law students will receive a separate email about the Elon Law schedule and facility operations.
The following offices/services will be open and available in person today.
Emergency and Crisis Response
- Campus Safety & Police operates 24-hours per day regardless of weather conditions, and can be reached at 336-278-5555. They can also assist with connections to the Student Life on-call administrators, who are available 24/7 throughout the summer.
- SAFEline is always available at 336-278-3333 for confidential support with sexual and relationship violence response – they can also be a confidential resource to access on-call violence responders.
- For urgent mental health needs, the Counselor On-Call is available at 336-278-2222.
- For any life-threatening emergency, call 9-1-1.

Belk Library
- Open 8 a.m – 5 p.m.
Campus Recreation and Wellness
- Koury Athletic Center: Stewart Fitness and Jordan Gym open 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.
- PARC: accessible to Phoenix Card holders until midnight.
- South Gym, Beck Pool, and Driving Range will be closed.
Dining Services
- Lakeside Dining Hall will be available to serve early arrival students as scheduled, and is available for lunch from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. for any essential personnel on campus.

Moseley Center
- Open until 5 p.m., as scheduled.
- Mail Services will be closed.
Student Health Services and Faculty/Staff Health & Wellness Clinic
- Both clinics have limited operations in the summer and will be available today until 12 p.m.
- Student appointments are available via the student portal or by calling 336-278-7230.
- Employee appointments available by calling 336-278-5569.
- Students can always access TimelyCare virtual health and wellbeing services 24/7.
Undergraduate Admissions
- The Inman Admissions Welcome Center will be open 8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. for campus information sessions only. Campus tours are canceled given weather conditions and the university closure.
School of Law students, staff and faculty should check the Elon Law website for updates.
