Computer Science

What is Computer Science?

• B.A. Computer Science - 52 semester hours of computer science and math courses
• B.S. Computer Science - 56 semester hours of computer science and math courses plus 8 hours of a biological or physlcal science
• Minor in Computer Science- 20 semester hours in computer science

Information Science

The Information Science major is new as of Fall 2011. This new state-of-the-art major welcomes incoming students and current students throughout the university as well as those who were previously considering the Computer Information Systems major.

What is Information Science?

• B.S. Information Science - 52 semester hours of information science, math, statistics and computer science courses
• Minor in Information Science - 20 semester hours in information and computer science

Other supported programs

• Multimedia Authoring - interdisciplinary minor coordinated by Computing Sciences
• Geographical Information Systems - interdisciplinary minor for which Computing Sciences provides supporting courses
• Computer Science/Engineering - dual-degree engineering program resulting in two degrees: a bachelor's degree from Elon and a bachelor's degree in engineering from an engineering school. Students spend the first three years at Elon and approximately two more years at an engineering school in this program.
• Service courses to other departments/programs
  • CIS 220/Technology in Teaching and Learning is offered by the department and is a required course for most of the School of Education's  K-12 teacher licensure programs.
  • CIS 211/Management Information Systems is offered by the department and is a required course for most of the Love School of Business undergraduate majors.
