            Room Descriptions and Reservations

Moseley Center is an ideal location for campus organizations to meet. It was designed to be used by all members of the campus community including students, faculty/staff and alumni. There are numerous rooms of varying sizes available. ARAMARK catering is available for almost every event in the Moseley Center. Special needs, such as audio-visual equipment, can also be met by the Moseley Center facilities.

During the academic year, the facility is open weekdays from 7 a.m. until at least 1 a.m. Weekend hours begin later in the morning. There is a trained staff available to assist you and your organization and to answer any questions. However, in order to run the facility most effectively, we ask that you take into account the following guidelines when planning an event in the building:

Consider your event and your needs:

  • what kind of event is it?
  • how many people are expected?
  • will catering be needed?
  • will any audio-visual equipment be necessary?

Which room best meets the needs of the organization and the event?

  • McKinnon Hall: Otherwise known as the "ballroom" on campus, McKinnon Hall was designed to hold a multitude of events including banquets, dances, party events and lectures. Capacity for the room is 450 in a lecture style and 300 in a banquet style. McKinnon can also be sectioned off with soundproof dividers into three individual rooms: D, E and F. The sound system in each room can be controlled from a sound booth located at the back of the room. The lights can be controlled from individual light panels in each section of the room. Capacity for each of the sections is 100 people. (Specific room setups can be requested for this facility. Such setups should be coordinated through Moseley Center staff.)
  • Hearth Lounge: This is a common area and can not be reserved. However, it can be used as an impromptu meeting place.
  • Commuter Lounge: This is an area is used by admissions and can be reserved after 5:00pm Monday-Friday.  Weekend availability will vary.  The Lounge includes projection screen, projector, DVD/VCR unit, a few small tables and chairs.  There should be no food or drinks in the lounge and set up and can not be changed.
  • Ward Octagon: Located in the far left corner of the Octagon Cafe, this room is ideal for breakfast, lunch and dinner meetings. It has several tables and chairs which can be arranged to suit the needs of the organization. Capacity for the Ward Octagon is 30 people.
  • Moseley 215: This is the largest conference room in the Moseley Center. It has a capacity of 65 people. The furniture can be arranged to best fit the need of the organization. The room contains projection screen, projector, DVD/VCR unit, several sofas, chairs and tables. Whenever possible, it is reserved for larger organizations and their events.
  • Covington Conference Room (216): This room is one of three reserved strictly for conferences and meetings. The room, which is available to both professional staff and student organizations, accommodates 20 people. It includes a dry-erase board, screen and a TV/VCR/DVD unit. The furniture in this room stays in a set large-table formation. It is not to be rearranged by any group using the room.
  • Stovall Conference Room (217): This room is also reserved strictly for conferences and meetings. It also has a capacity of 20, a dry-erase board, screen, TV/VCR/DVD and furniture, which stays in a large "U"-shape.

Consider what time and how long the event will be:
Please visit our Hours of Operation page for opening and closing times. These hours are subject to change. During that time, all facilities are available for use. If an organization wishes to reserve a room for any length of time after closing hours, permission must be granted by the Moseley Center staff. In addition, the organization may be required to have a campus security officer available and pay the student worker for the additional hours he/she must work in order to keep the building open. If the event being held is a social event, that event must first be approved by Dean Patterson in the Office of Student Development (Moseley 206).

To reserve a room a faculty/staff must submit a request using the R25 WebViewer .  Student groups who want to request a room must have their faculty/staff advisor submit the request in R25.

Occasionally complications occur, and a room reservation cannot be kept. If that does happen, all possible alternatives will be offered. However, for this reason it is important that room reservations be made well in advance. If you need to cancel a room reservation, please do so as soon as possible.

ARAMARK must be contacted if food and drinks are needed at the meeting. They are the food service contracted by the university. Therefore, they have first rights to any meal preparation. If catering is needed for the event, contact ARAMARK at the earliest possible date after the room confirmation. Call x5330 and ask for the Director of Catering.

Audio-Visual Requests: For all requests please contact Event Setup at x6521.

Finally, remember that each organization is responsible for the condition of the room that is being used. Please remember to pick up all trash, collect all belongings, return furniture to original position and turn off all lights. AV equipment will be removed by media service technicians. Any damages to the room will be charged to the organization and loss of future scheduling privileges.

Please report any problems or concerns to the Moseley Center Front Desk. We will make every effort to meet your organization's needs. We encourage you to provide any feedback you have about the Moseley Center services or facilities.

The Moseley Center staff is here to help make your events successful. If we can assist you in your planning, please contact us at 278-7215.

THANK YOU FOR USING THE MOSELEY CENTER FOR YOUR MEETING AND EVENT NEEDS!
