2008 Elon University Interfraternity Council Goals

Goals for President

  • Increase attendance
  • Strengthen tri-council relations
  • Promote community involvement
  • Work as a direct liaison between administration and the students

Goals for Administration (risk-management)

  • To increase awareness for risk-management policies on Elon University campus in order to decrease activity detrimental to Greek Life, especially all IFC organizations
  • To work with IFC organizations to promote more positive behavior, especially involving alcohol and hazing related activity, that will provide men in Greek Life with a better image on Elon University campus as well as the local and greater communities
  • To provide a strong student run judicial recommending board so that IFC organizations are comfortable with the fairness of sanctions in order to maintain a united IFC.

Goals for Recruitment

        • Begin a recruitment workshop for all of the fraternities focusing on their specific recruitment.  This will take place during the Spring and the Fall Semesters.
          - Ideal Chapter…What is it?
          - Brag on yourselves

          - Remind everyone in the chapter why they joined an organization
          - Make a wish list
          - Watch what you put on t-shirts.  (A t-shirt won’t get a kid to join a fraternity,
but it will make someone decide not to.)
  • Increase the fall class numbers by approaching each fraternity and not just throwing one large IFC event.
  • Bring David Stallman to Elon to talk to Fraternities about Recruitment….Sororities?
  • Focus on cutting down stereotypes for all of Greek Life.
  • Increase numbers in Spring Recruitment in hopes of obtaining more quality guys.
  • Two Fun Sober IFC events, and if it seems like a waste of money, talk about the possibility of giving chapters money in order to recruit.
  • Possibility of IFC sponsored tailgate in the Greek Courts.

Goals for Education and Programming

  • Create more Tri-Council tri-sponsored events
  • Conduct more joint fraternity events
  • Host a round-table discussion with all chapter presidents
  • Host a successful Greek New Member Retreat in the spring
  • Hold substance abuse or sexual harassment/assault program at the beginning of the fall for all IFC chapters and freshman
  • Hold a living the ritual/fraternity values and behavior program for all IFC chapters

Goals for Service

  • Try to put together a Greekstock during Greek Week
  • Have a Greek service day
  • Raise overall service hours and money raised
  • Make service fun

Goals for Scholarship

  • Raise overall GPA to 3.15
  • Be more active within each organization
  • Engage the faculty into IFC scholarship
