Research/Creative Interests

My research focuses on race in American literature and film, particularly in African American literature spanning the 19th century to the present. I am also interested in Critical Theory, Critical Race Theory, the Medical/Health Humanities, and the history of speculative fiction (Afrofuturism, sci fi, fantasy, horror, gothic, weird fiction, etc.).
