Components of an Account Number

Account numbers consist of three parts: Fund, Function/Department, and Object (in order).

Fund

Represents one of the funding sources below:

0-Operating
1-Designated
2-Loan (Accounting use only)
3-Endowment (Accounting use only)
4-Plant
5-Law School
6-School of Health Sciences
8-Oaks
9-Agency

Function/Department

Represents the individual department and consists of 6 digits.

Object

Represents the individual line item within each department’s function and consists of 5 digits. For example: Office supplies is “51005”. The object allows for actual tracking of expenses and other transactions.

Please note that object code 30000 is for balances only and cannot be used for charging expenses.
