About SGA
About Student Government Association
Elon University’s Student Government Association (SGA) serves as the official representative body of the student body. SGA works to advocate for student needs, allocate funding to student organizations, and collaborate with university administration to enhance the student experience at Elon.
Executive Board
The Executive Board is led by four elected officers: the Executive President, Executive Vice President, Vice President of Communications, and Vice President of Finance, along with the Speaker of the Senate, who joins the Executive Board upon election by the Senate. Each officer is supported by an appointed assistant. The Executive Board sets SGA’s strategic direction, organizes events and communications, manages the budget, and serves as the primary liaison between students and university administration.
Senate
The SGA Senate is the Legislative Branch and is composed of elected senators representing class years, undergraduate colleges, and SGA initiative priorities. Senators introduce and vote on legislation, serve on Senate committees, meet regularly with their constituents and campus administrators, and bring student concerns directly to university leadership. Senate leadership includes the Speaker of the Senate, Speaker Pro Tempore, Parliamentarian, and Committee Chairs.
Finance Board
The Finance Board is responsible for allocating student activity fees to registered student organizations. It is presided over by the Vice President of Finance and includes class treasurers and additional non-senator student representatives.
Committees
Each Senator serves on at least one Senate standing committee. Current standing committees include Academic Relations (ARC), Elections, One Phoenix, Students Promoting Inclusive Excellence (SPIE), and Student Outreach (SOC). The Speaker of the Senate may also form Ad Hoc Committees to address emerging issues. SGA also appoints students to serve on university-wide Campus Committees.
Meet Our Advisors
SGA is supported by professional staff advisors from the Division of Student Life who guide the organization and its leadership.
