Nutshell: Everyone will have an electronic health record, a collection of data and datalinks.

Vision: Health care will move toward a standardization of the "electronic health record." There will develop a consensus regarding data standardization for a basic set of health care inormation in a format widely accepted by very different information systems, almost like a new syntax of health care information.

Each person's own health record will become more accessible by a wide variety of providers who may need access. Sophisticated security protocols will protect the data so that selective permission can be given to view portions of the data. Embedded datalinks will link to larger bodies of information for more detailed information.
