Nutshell: The internet will be faster and more reliable, utilizing modern transmission protocols and high-speed physical layer links.

Vision: The future of the internet isn't as far off as one might imagine. With newer protocols such as IPv6 already being widely implemented by large software distributors, and high-speed links to the internet reaching an all-time high, it is quite within reach.

The proliferation of high-speed internet access in American homes is reaching an all-time high, and coupled with next-gen transmission protocols, means the birth (or rather, the re-birth) of the internet as we know it.
