Research/Creative Interests

I’m broadly interested in American law and courts, at both the state and federal levels. I am especially curious about how judges craft their opinions and communicate with various audiences, as well as how judges can influence one another through their work. My lines of research involve judicial communication and language borrowing, judicial outreach beyond the courtroom, and judicial opinion writing.

My research regularly involves quantitative analysis of judicial opinions.
