Dr. Justin Clar
Research/Creative Interests
My research group works in two areas of environmental nanotechnology. The first is developing methods to better understand the release and transformation of metal and metal oxide nanoparticles from consumer products. The second is the development of a multifunctional boron nitride nanocomposite for water treatment
What types of “data” do you commonly use?
Our group generates a great deal of data, specifically changes in concentration of our test chemicals before and after experimentations. We use simple statistical tests like ANOVAs to determine what conditions produce statistically relevant results
What types of collaborations are you open to?
I am open to collaborations with ALL students and faculty that have interest in our work.
What agencies, organizations, or foundations do you have experience with to apply for grants?
- NSF
- Dreyfus Foundation
- NC Biotechnology
- Beckman Scholars Program
- Consumer Product Safety Commission
Student Qualifications
Any student with an interest in the topic with sophomore standing.
