MBA Admissions Requirements and Procedures

Applications must be completed online and all material should be sent directly to the Office of Graduate Admissions. An application file is considered complete based on the following:

  • Evidence of an earned bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Official transcripts of all undergraduate and any graduate studies completed or taken outside of Elon University (please note that Elon transcripts will be requested on your behalf)

    • Transcripts can also be sent electronically to
  • Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or Graduate Record Examination (GRE) taken within the last five years
    • Send official GMAT or GRE scores directly to the Office of Graduate Admissions; Elon University’s MBA GMAT program code is BFI-84-88 and the GRE program code is 5183

  • Two years of professional work experience
  • Current resume
  • Personal statement
  • Two letters of recommendation
    • At least one from a supervisor and the other from a professional or academic source
  • A completed online application with a $60 nonrefundable fee.  The application fee will be waived for the 2021 application cycles, in an effort to assist all who are affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Once a student is admitted, a $250 non-refundable deposit is required to secure a spot in the class.  The deposit will be waived for 2021 application cycles, in an effort to assist all who are affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

For international applicants:

  • Requirements listed above
  • Official transcripts must be translated into English, if they are not already in English, and must be evaluated on a course-by-course basis by a third-party such as WES, IEE, or ECE.
  • Evidence of English language proficiency (unless English is the student’s native language). Acceptable evidence:
    • A minimum Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 79 (internet-based tests) or 213 (computer-based examinations)
    • A minimum Duolingo score of 110
    • A minimum International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic exam score of 6.5 (overall band)

MBA Admission Standards

A minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.5 and a GMAT score of 500 or GRE combined verbal and quantitative score of 297 are recommended. Application review also strongly considers a student’s professional experience (resume) and letters of recommendation.
