Research/Creative Interests

I use large observational “surveys” to investigate how galaxies like our Milky Way have changed over the history of the cosmos. I am particularly interested in examining the role of *environment* (galaxy groups, galaxy clusters, cosmic web) in galaxy evolution. My work integrates modern methods from observational astronomy, statistics, and data science.

What types of “data” do you commonly use?

We use a variety of data products, but especially (1) tables and catalogs that list the properties of thousands of galaxies and (2) astronomical images taken from world-class observatories such as the James Webb Space Telescope.

What types of collaborations are you open to?

Any, but especially interested in working with student undergraduate researchers

What agencies, organizations, or foundations do you have experience with to apply for grants?

  • National Science Foundation
  • NASA
  • NC Space Grant

Student Qualifications

  • Physics or Astronomy major
  • Basic programming experience (Python preferred)
  • Self-motivated
  • Hard working
