Research/Creative Interests

My research group works in the area of synthetic organic chemistry. We are interested in synthesizing compounds that exhibit promising biological activity, with a particular focus on compounds produced in nature.

What types of “data” do you commonly use?

Our group employs several methods to characterize and confirm the identity of our compounds including nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy (IR), gas chromatography (GC), and mass spectrometry (MS).

What types of collaborations are you open to?

I am interested in collaborating with any and all students interested in working in the are of organic synthesis. There is a particular interest in collaborating with faculty and staff  that have expertise in evaluating the biological activity of small molecules.

Student Qualifications

  • Sophomore standing
  • Interested in learning more about research in the area of organic chemistry
  • I am particularly interested in mentoring students from historically marginalized groups and those that want to learn more about opportunities and careers in research.
