Research/Creative Interests
My research focuses on play therapy with children and families, experiential methods for cultivating empathy, and family dynamics more broadly. Ongoing work includes research on how college students from non-nuclear families experience higher education and a project examining the use of interactive, choose-your-own-adventure simulation software to support the development of empathy and counseling skills.
What types of “data” do you commonly use?
I generally use qualitative interviews and short answer textual analyses. I use Dedoose Software to assist in the coding organization and analysis.
What types of collaborations are you open to?
I’m open to students, faculty and staff with shared interests and dedication to the work.
