Research/Creative Interests
As a computational social scientist, I build simulations of human social systems and their dynamics. My current project is a model of community gardening and explores how organizer can most effectively help individuals start and sustain personal gardens.
Research/Creative Needs
I need help with conducting interviews with community organizers, collecting data, literature review, and revising our model and analyzing results from simulation runs.
Mentoring Style
- Typically one-on-one
- One-on-one or in small groups, depending on the project
Currently looking for a student to apply and work in these programs:
- Any program/opportunity
I can mentor a student enrolled in 4998/4999 hours during these semesters:
- Summer Session I 2024
- Summer Session II 2024
- Fall 2024
- Email me to ask
Student Qualifications:
- Computer science majors
- Social science students
- Environmental studies majors
- Sociology majors
- I am also particularly interested in working with and mentoring students from historically marginalized populations
A little bit more info:
While the computational model is the main component of my research, it needs to be well integrated with the applicable social science domain. Students from non-CS (or non-STEM) disciplines can be very helpful in this respect, and my ideal team would be highly interdisciplinary.
