WE Talk: Disrupting Norms – Women’s Basketball Case Study
WE (Women of Elon) Talk is a new virtual discussion series led by women for women. For our inaugural episode, Erica L. Ayala ’08 and Dr. Shelby McKay ’13 took a deep dive into ways women are disrupters in business, using women’s basketball as a case study. They discussed how mega deals like Ally are changing the landscape, the trajectory of former players becoming coaches and executives, the rise of self-advocacy (especially for Black women in the space), and what additional opportunities NIL provides. After an engaging conversation, attendees split up into breakout rooms to discuss how these trends relate to their own industries and how women are agents of change in all professions.
