Start with what interests you.

Explore programs in engineering and computing that give you room to pursue what interests you and discover new directions along the way.

  • With engineering, you can study mechanics, materials, circuits and design, then follow those subjects into structures, energy, biological systems or the space where hardware and software meet.
  • In computing, you can study programming, algorithms and how software and systems work, then explore building software, securing it or understanding the ideas behind it.

Choose a major, add a minor or concentration, and make connections across disciplines so your technical thinking and your ability to communicate develop together.

A major is one part of your Elon education. The Core Curriculum courses and the Elon Experiences you choose will also shape what you learn and how you use it.

Shaping Your Path

A sample four-year plan shows one way to bring these parts together. Your own plan can develop as your interests grow.

What Makes Up Your Degree

Your bachelor’s degree requires at least 132 semester hours, including the Core Curriculum, a major and electives. The Core accounts for 56 to 60 hours. Some degree pages include a sample four-year plan so you can see one way the requirements may fit together.

Help With the Choices Ahead

Your advisor can help you account for placement credit and make room for a minor or second major, study away, research, internships, Honors Fellows, service or other opportunities. Together, you can work out how those choices fit into your time at Elon.
