New Student Welcome

This event will welcome new students onto campus, help them connect with their peers, and provide information/resources that LGBTQIA+ students and allies as well as survivors of stalking, harrasment, and sexual and relationships abuse can access during their journey at Elon University. We hope to see you there!

Dragstravaganza

Started in 2013 by Raafe Purnsley ’13, this annual drag show partners with Late Night Elon to bring professional drag queens to campus. This extremely popular event is a staple LGBTQIA tradition on campus.

Fall & Spring Pride Fest!

Each semester the GLC hosts a large pride festival outside on campus! Enjoy games, snacks, and community as we collectively celebrate our identities!

Take Back The Night

An opportunity for survivors of gender-based violence to come together and share their stories and learn about resources available to them.

Queer & Trans Art Showcase

Partnered with WGSS, each year the GLC hosts an art showcase to display LGBTQIA student art and performances. Microgrants through the GLC are available to help with the purchasing of art supplies for artists.

Trans Day of Remembrance & Resilience

Every November the GLC hosts a vigil and a reading of names to honor all of those who lost their lives to anti-trans violence throughout the year. This is an event meant to both raise awareness about this serious issue and for our communities to come together to support each other.

Rainbow of Excellence

Each February the GLC hosts a social and dinner that will center the experiences of students who identify as ALANAM and part of the LGBTQIA+ communities. Join us in community building!

Kiki Ball at Elon

Every spring semester, the GLC & CREDE host a Kiki Ball! The Kiki Ball at Elon is a large celebration event of LGBTQIA ballroom culture and history that originates from Queer & Trans People of Color in the northeast.

International Women’s Day Luncheon

In partnership with WGSS and Elon’s Women’s Forum, every March Elon hosts a luncheon that centers feminist activist work and scholarship. Guest speakers who engage in advocating for gender equity are invited to share their stories and expertise.

Lavender Celebration

The annual lavender graduation honors those who have promoted LGBTQIA+ inclusion on campus, as well as students, faculty, and staff who have advanced inclusion, support, and education around LGBTQIA identities at Elon.

Identity Awareness Weeks

Each year the Gender & LGBTQIA Center’s Student Assistants work on multiple Identity Weeks to increase attention, visibility, awareness, and education around specific identities across the LGBTQIA spectrum.
