Hello, Everyone! I'm a Senior double major in English and Theater Studies with focuses in Creative Writing and Acting. I am a native of Fayetteville, North Carolina and a current member of Elon's newest a cappella group, The Shirley Tempos.

Each year I help organize events and programming across campus for International Bi Day of Visibility and our College Coffees, as well as help with our social media.

Junior - Class of 2020

Hey y’all! My name is Matt Reichenbach and I am from Reston, Virginia (the burbs outside of DC). I’m a Junior Journalism and Media Analytics double major with a Spanish minor.

When I'm not working at the GLC, I host Style Corner on ETalk, serve as Features Editor on The Edge magazine, and help Elon first-years as an Elon 101 Teaching Assistant. In my spare time I love watching RuPaul’s Drag Race, socializing, and convincing everyone around me that Red Robin is a chain to be reckoned with.

My main goal for the GLC is to showcase outstanding individuals in the LGBTQIA and help improve the attitudes that LGBTQIA students have towards each other here on campus!

Junior - Class of 2020

Hey everyone! My name is CJ Porterfield and I am from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania (it’s about 20 minutes from Hershey where they make the chocolate, so that’s fun). I am a double major in Cinema and Television Arts and Drama and Theatre Studies. I am also a member of Alpha Psi Omega, the national theater honor society.

Each year, I help organize events and programming related to Trans Day of Remembrance. I hope that through our work at the GLC that we make Elon University a more educated place about all our identities so that everyone feels comfortable and like they bELONg on our campus. When I am not working at the GLC, I am probably making horrible puns (see above). Come visit me at the GLC!

Hey, everyone! I’m a Sophomore from Alpharetta, Georgia (right outside of Atlanta). I’m a Human Services major with a minor in Poverty and Social Justice. When I’m not in the GLC (even though this is usually where you can find me), I also participate in Greek life and am a Periclean Scholar.

I’m so excited to be working with the GLC on events this year such as Supporting Survivors Week and Bisexual Awareness Week. It’s my goal to help further inclusion and acceptance around campus, and make it a comfortable place for everyone.

Hey, everyone! I am a sophomore from Charlotte, NC, majoring in Political Science and Philosophy with a minor in something awesome. Apart from working at the GLC, I am a member of the women’s rugby team and ballroom club.

I’m really excited to be a part of the GLC and can’t wait to get started on some big events. I hope to help further students' involvement and help broaden inclusion and acceptance here at Elon!

First year - Class of 2022

Hey, everyone! I am a first-year student from Charlotte, NC. I plan on majoring in Political Science and possibly minoring in Women’s Gender and Sexualties Studies. I absolutely love watching movies (specifically Harry Potter and Lady Bird), going to coffee shops, and travelling. My favorite place I’ve travelled so far is probably Havana, Cuba!

I hope to make Elon a more inclusive environment for LGBTQIA people with my time in the GLC. I can’t wait to start working on some projects and meet new people. Feel free to stop by in Moseley 211 and say hey!

First year - Class of 2022

My name is Trinity Dixon and I am a part of Elon’s freshman class!

I intend to major in Sociology and Spanish with a minor in Leadership Studies for the Leadership Fellows Program. I enjoy listening to music from the 80s, watching Marvel movies, and reading poetry by Audre Lorde or Langston Hughes. When I am not working at the GLC, you may see me riding my beloved bike across campus, chasing down the Bio-Bus, or at an Elon Feminist or College Democrat meeting.

In my high school, I helped out with the Gay-Straight Alliance to promote an inclusive and safe environment for the LGBTQIA students and staff, like myself, at school, so I am very excited about joining team GLC to do the same here at Elon.

I love making new friends so if you see me on campus, feel free to say hi!

Kate Lengyel

Student Assistant at the Gender & LGBTQIA Center (GLC)
First year - Class of 2022

Hi! My name is Kate and I am a first year at Elon. I’m from Cary, NC which is only an hour away, so I can easily visit my dog. I plan to major in Strategic Communications or Film and Television Arts, so if I’m not at the GLC, I’m in the Communications building. And if I’m not there, I’m probably arguing for the social acceptance of pineapple on pizza (It’s amazing and we all know it).

My main goal at the GLC is to inform others about the LGBTQIA+ community and facilitate an inclusive, supportive environment on campus for everyone.

My favorite thing is meeting new people, so don’t be afraid to stop by and say hi!

Hey, everyone! I am a sophomore from Saint Louis, MO, majoring in Music Theatre. Apart from working in the GLC, I’m an artist. Whether it’s acting, singing, dancing, directing or choreographing, I’m always performing. Apart from theater I love American history, going to the gym, making playlists and discovering new coffee shops. I’m super excited to be a part of the GLC team and to get to work. I hope to make Elon a brighter and more colorful campus through education and inclusion.
