Student Opportunities: Student Groups

Elon has a number of student groups that address sustainability and environmental interests either directly or indirectly. If you feel a group is missing from this list, please let us know.

The Elon Community Garden is a place for Elon students, faculty, staff, children, and community to come together.  It was initiated by an environmental ethics course in the fall of 2006 to foster education, spirituality, service, community discussion and sustainability and was fully established by a student as part of a senior thesis project.

Elon Outdoors offers students several opportunities to experience the natural world each semester with programs such as canoeing, rock climbing, kayaking, backpacking, white water rafting and sailing.

Campus Kitchen at Elon University was launched in February of 2011. It is also a part of the Elon Volunteers Program in the Kernodle Center for Service Learning. Campus Kitchen utilizes unserved food from campus dining facilities and engages students as volunteers who prepare and deliver meals to the community. Elon is the third National Campus Kitchen Project affiliate in the state of North Carolina!
