First-Year Advising & Registration
What is First-Year Advising & Registration (FYAR)?
As a new student, FYAR is a academic advising experience designed to help you explore your interests, understand degree requirements, and start your college journey with purposeful planning.
As academic advisors, we see this as an opportunity for you to meet with an advisor one-on-one to ask questions about the schedule that has been created for you based on your interests and responses to the Advising Course Interest Form.
Overall, FYAR is a collaborative process where new students explore their options through independent research and then work directly with an academic advisor to discuss their first semester schedule of classes.
When is First-Year Advising & Registration?
For the incoming class of 2030, FYAR sessions are held throughout the months of June and July. Until then, monitor your Admissions Acorn Account for updates and vital time sensitive tasks.
When can I sign-up for my FYAR session?
You will be able to sign up for your FYAR Advising Session upon submission of your Advising Course Interest Form. You will be sent this form in an email from the Elon Admissions Office. This form will be used in the creation of your first semester schedule.
What happens if I don’t participate in FYAR?
All students are required to participate in FYAR. We will host a multitude of sessions during the summer of 2026 with a variety of day and time options. This one-on-one session with an academic advisor allows you to be engaged and take ownership in this educational process. Failure to attend a session will prevent you from making any schedule changes until your arrival at Elon.
Sessions begin June 10th with the final FYAR sessions concluding on July 17th.
