Elon 1010 Peer Educators (PEs)

We appreciate your interest in the Elon 1010 Peer Educator (PE) position; We cannot wait to get to know you better throughout this process!

The application to be a Peer Educator allows you to provide a short answer (no more than 100 words) for all essay questions. We highly encourage you to prepare your responses in a Word document and to copy/paste your responses into the online application. The PE application will open on November 6th, 2023. Overview of Peer Educator Role

Are you looking for a way to cultivate leadership skills while impacting the lives of first-year Elon students? The Elon 1010 Peer Educator position is for you!

Elon 1010 Peer Educators (PEs) are dedicated student leaders with a deep appreciation and inclination for supporting students in transition. PEs work to provide first-year students with the necessary tools for their success. Beyond being a student leader, PEs are also teacher assistants, peer mentors, student academic advisors, helping-skills liaisons, and academic coaches.

Qualifications 

To serve in the role of an Elon 1010 Peer Educator (PE), students must:

  • Have an interest in working with and supporting first-year students.
  • Maintain a 2.75 GPA each semester and cumulative.
  • Maintain good standing academically and with the Elon Honor Code/Code of Conduct.
  • Complete/submit the Peer Educator Application and complete all required trainings in July, August, and throughout the Fall 2024 Semester.

*This session is designed specifically for students who hold identities that have Historically and Presently been excluded in higher education and are interested in becoming a Peer Educator. We strongly encourage students who are ALANAM, LGBTQIA+, First-Generation, Low-Income, students with disabilities, and any students who hold marginalized and minoritized identities to attend this session.


Application Process & Timeline

Are you applying as a New Peer Educator? All applicants who have successfully submitted a completed application and have met the qualifications to become a PE, will be extended an invitation to a group interview session to take place during J-Term (Winter 2024). Applications for new PEs must be submitted before January, 1, 2024.

Are you applying as a Returning Peer Educator? All applicants who are applying to return as PE, must submit a completed application, meet the qualifications to return as a PE, and receive a positive endorsement from their current Elon 1010 Instructor to return. Applications for returning PEs must be submitted before January 31, 2024.
