Declaring Your Major


Important Dates To Remember!

The deadline to declare your major AND have a new advisor by fall registration advising was on Tuesday, February 28, 2023.

Students can continue to declare their advisor but must work with their current academic advisor for fall 2023 registration advising. We recommend contacting your advisor after spring break to set up a time to meet. Please check the 2022-2023 Academic Calendar for the date that seniors register for fall 2023 classes. Be sure to check OnTrack around spring break for your official date and time to register and schedule your registration advising meeting accordingly.

I declared by February 28th. What happens next?

All students who met this deadline will have an academic advisor in their major department by the return from spring break. Please check your email for the alert with new advisor information once assigned. You may also check the Advising tab in OnTrack to find your advisor’s name and email.



This form is for students who are declaring their major for the first time or who are changing a declared major. This form includes a survey of your Elon 1010 experience for first time major declarations. Please indicate major(s) and minor(s) on the data entry form page. What you enter will show on your degree audit.

Students currently enrolled in ELN 1010 cannot declare their major until the final month of that semester. This allows the instructor of ELN 1010 to maintain access to academic information crucial to the grading of assignments in the ELN 1010 class. For spring 2023, ELN 1010 students may declare their major after the semester begins since it is a half-semester class.

Change of Minor Form

Complete this form to add or remove minors only.


At the time of major declaration, a student can request a preferred advisor within the declared department of study. While there is no guarantee that the request will be fulfilled, it will be noted within the department.
*PLEASE NOTE – Once a department advisor has been assigned to a student, any advisor changes must be requested through the departmental chair.
