Welcome to The Writing Center Blog

Writing Center consultants have been sharing their insights through blog posts for several years now.

In summer 2025, all blog posts were updated to be more concise and to include suggestions for how to accomplish the same writing task using generative AI. Our AI disclosure statement for how we used AI to edit the blogs is below.

Feel free to browse around or search for a topic of interest.

AI Disclosure Statement

Throughout my revision and editing process, I have used generative AI to more efficiently draft summaries and create suggestions on how to utilize current AI tools relevant to each blog topic. I used Chat GPT 4o to provide quick summaries for lengthy blog posts. In these cases, the AI responses were used as a foundation, and I made revisions as needed in order to preserve the original author’s tone and voice. Chat GPT also proved itself to be useful when suggesting ways AI itself could help with each of the blog’s topics. This only applied to a few I saw fit, but I wanted to make sure I could accurately suggest AI for certain tasks. Once I proved the chatbot could be useful for a topic, I asked for a suggestion as to how users could use AI to achieve the same outcome. Again, I wanted to preserve the original author’s original voice and tone, so edits and adjustments were made. It is important to note that this use of AI in the revision process has acted as a guide. AI should not be used to replace original writing, but as a tool or helper. — Sydney Perich, Writing Center Consultant, July 2025
