Images are managed in the WordPress Media Library, which makes it easy to embed, link, align and modify individual images. To upload an image on a Page, follow one of the methods below.

In WordPress, it’s common for there to be multiple ways to perform an individual task such as uploading an image. We’ll make note of a few of them below, but we encourage you to use the method you find easiest.

Uploading an image using drag-and-drop in the Media Library

  • Place your cursor where you want the image to be embedded.
  • Click the Add Media button, located below the Page title and above the Rich Text Editor, to display the Media Library.
  • If not already selected, select the Media Library tab located toward the top of the Media Library window.
  • Outside of your browser window, find and select the image file you want to upload.
  • Click, hold and drag the file on top of the Media Library image grid. You will see the window turn blue, with white text telling you to Drop files to upload.
  • Release the mouse button to begin the upload. You will now see the Media Library window display.
  • Once uploaded, your file will now display in the image grid outlined with a blue border and a blue/white check mark in the upper right corner of the thumbnail.
  • Change any necessary settings for the image (available options detailed below), such as alignment, size or caption.
  • Click the blue Insert into page button.

  • Place your cursor where you want the image to be embedded.

  • Click the gray Select Files button.
  • Locate and select the image file you want to upload.
  • Click the Open/Select button to confirm your selection. (The name of the button varies depending on your operating system and browser.)
  • Once uploaded, your file will now display in the image grid outlined with a blue border and a blue/white check mark in the upper right corner of the thumbnail.
  • Change any necessary settings for the image (available options detailed below), such as alignment, size or caption.
  • Click the blue Insert into page button.
