An Elon application is required for every Elon global engagement program. Some programs may also require an additional application in order to be considered for the program. All online applications are due by 11:59 PM on the advertised deadline date.

2019-20 Deadlines

Summer 2019 programs

Early Action Period:

Study USA: September 11 to 11:59 p.m. on November 15.

Study Abroad: October 9 to 11:59 p.m. on November 15.

All applications completed in the Early Action Period will be reviewed by December 4.

Rolling Period:

Study USA: November 16 to 11:59 PM on February 14.

Study Abroad: December 4 to 11:59 PM on February 14.

All applications completed in the Rolling Period will be reviewed within two weeks of submission.

Exceptions:

Early Action Period: Students that would like an early answer on their application status and scholarship support may apply Early Action. Students that apply Early Action will be notified of their status by early December and GEC Access Scholarship support by January.

Rolling Period: Applications submitted within these dates will be reviewed within two weeks of submission in the order received as space is available. Students must complete the GEC Access Scholarship questionnaire by mid-February to guarantee consideration. Students will be notified of GEC Access Scholarship support by April.


GEC Access Scholarship

All applications for a GEC Access Scholarship are now part of the pre-decision application for all outgoing Study Abroad and Study USA programs as well as Independent Program (IP) applications. Non-Elon Petitions are not eligible for the GEC Access Scholarship.

  • Students must apply by February 14 to guarantee consideration for the GEC Access Scholarship even if the program deadline is after this date.
  • Students that apply during the Early Action Period will be notified by January.
  • Students that apply during the Rolling Period will be notified in April.
  • If students are not notified of GEC Access Scholarship support before the deposit refund deadline, they will be offered a deposit refund deadline extension at the time of scholarship notification.

Cancellation

Cancellations must be submitted in writing to the Global Education Center. 

  • For study abroad programs, the $400 deposit paid upon application is refundable until the first day of registration the semester preceding program. Students that cancel on or after this date are liable for any costs incurred on their behalf by Elon or the affiliate or host university, which may include up to the total program cost.
  • For Study USA programs, the $400 deposit paid upon application is refundable until April 1. Full program cost is non-refundable beginning May 1.
  • Exceptions:
    • Japan, Hong Kong, and Seoul – Exploring Business and Culture payment schedule:
      • March 1, 2019: Deposit refund deadline.  Students accepted to this program that cancel after this date will not have the deposit returned.
      • March 22, 2019: Full payment deadline
      • March 22-April 1, 2019: Students that cancel between these dates are responsible for 50 percent of the cost of the program.
      • April 2, 2019: Students that cancel are responsible for the full program cost.
    • DIS programs (Copenhagen or Stockholm): the $500 DIS deposit becomes non-refundable the day you enroll for courses for your DIS program.
  • If you are not accepted into a program, your deposit will be credited to your student account.
  • No request for refund will be considered after the commencement of the program.

    A student is still responsible for costs noted above if they cancel regardless of whether they have paid the program fees at the time of cancellation.
