  • Students must apply by Feb. 13 to guarantee consideration for the GEC Access Scholarship even if the program deadline is after this date.
  • Students that apply during the Early Action Period will be notified by January.
  • Students that apply during the Rolling Period will be notified in April.
  • If students are not notified of GEC Access Scholarship support before the deposit refund deadline, they will be offered a deposit refund deadline extension at the time of scholarship notification.

Cancelation

Cancelations must be submitted in writing to the Global Education Center. 

  • For study abroad programs, the $400 deposit paid upon application is refundable until the first day of registration the semester preceding program. Students that cancel on or after this date are liable for any costs incurred on their behalf by Elon or the affiliate or host university, which may include up to the total program cost.
  • For Study USA programs, the $400 deposit paid upon application is refundable until March 12. Housing payment is nonrefundable beginning April 9. Full program cost is nonrefundable beginning May 1.
  • Exceptions:
    • For students approved for API or Global Experiences summer internship programs: the $400 deposit becomes non-refundable Mar. 12.
    • For students approved for DIS programs (Copenhagen or Stockholm): the $500 DIS deposit becomes non-refundable the day they enroll for courses for their DIS program.
    • For students approved for Italy, Florence: Summer Liberal Arts, Music, & Performing Arts (AEF): the last day to cancel your participation in this program without incurring liability for the costs of the program is Apr. 15. Cancelations must be made both to the Global Education Center and directly to AEF (info@aefirenze.it).
  • If you are not accepted into a program, your deposit will be credited to your student account.
  • No request for refund will be considered after the commencement of the program.

Fall 2020 semester programs

Study USA

Study USA

Cancelation Policy

Canceling your participation in a program can be done ONLY by completing a cancelation form and submitting it to the Global Education Center. Students submitting a cancelation form for Global Short-term Programs are subject to the following payment schedule:

  • mid-March: Program confirmation notification sent by email. This confirmation will include the revised cancelation dates and associated financial penalties specific to each May Term program.
COVID-19 RELATED PROGRAM CANCELATION

If the GEC cancels a May Term program before it commences, students will be refunded the full program fee.

The GEC cannot reimburse personal purchases (i.e. expenses not included in the billable program fee), such as connecting flights.

Cancelation Policy: MUS 471 – Jazz & Opera in Italy

Cancelling your participation in a program can be done ONLY by submitting the cancellation form. Students submitting a cancellation form for Global Short-term Programs are subject to the following payment schedule:

  • April 26: Last day to withdraw and avoid financial penalty.
  • April 27 – May 3: Students that cancel on or within these dates are responsible for $400.
  • May 4 – May 21: Students that cancel on or within these dates are responsible for 30 percent of the program cost.
  • May 22: Students that cancel on or after this date are responsible for the full program cost.

In the event that the program is cancelled before April 27, students will not owe anything.

In the event that the program is cancelled after April 27 and prior to departure, students will receive a full refund except the $400 deposit.

If a program is canceled after the start date, no refund will be provided, nor if the University moves to recall students from abroad after the program has begun.

You are responsible for the costs noted above if you cancel regardless of whether you have paid the program fees at the time of cancelation.

Early Action: Apr. 6 to May 6. After 11:59 PM Eastern Time, applications lock. Applicants must click “submit” in their application by 11:59 PM Eastern Time to meet the Early Action deadline. Otherwise, their application will be available to submit beginning in the Rolling Period. Applications submitted Early Action are reviewed for eligibility and merit, rather than time of submission.

Applications submitted Early Action will be reviewed by May 25.

Rolling: May 25 to Sept. 9. After 11:59 PM Eastern Time, applications lock. Applicants must click “submit” in their application by 11:59 PM Eastern Time to meet the final deadline.

All applications completed in the Rolling Period will be reviewed within two weeks of submission.

Exceptions:

Early Action Period: Students that would like an early answer on their application status and scholarship support may apply Early Action.

Rolling Period: Applications submitted within these dates will be reviewed within two weeks of submission in the order received as space is available.


Elon Global Scholarship

All applications for a Elon Global Scholarship are now part of the pre-decision application for all outgoing Study Abroad and Study USA programs as well as Independent Program (IP) applications. Non-Elon Petitions are not eligible for Elon Global Scholarship consideration.

Students must apply by Sept. 9 to guarantee consideration for the Elon Global Scholarship even if the program deadline is after this date.

  • All students that apply during the Early Action Period will be notified in early summer.
  • All students that apply during the Rolling Period will be notified in October.
  • If students are not notified of their Elon Global Scholarship application status before the deposit refund deadline, they will be offered a deposit refund deadline extension at the time of scholarship notification.

Cancellation

Cancellations must be submitted in writing to the Global Education Center.

  • The $400 deposit paid upon application is refundable until the first day of registration (Nov. 5). Students that cancel on or after this date are liable for any costs incurred on their behalf by Elon or the affiliate or host university, which may include up to the total program cost.
  • EXCEPTIONS:
    • Elon in NYC spring: program housing expense is non-refundable beginning Nov. 15, and full program cost is non-refundable beginning Dec. 15.
    • DIS programs (Copenhagen or Stockholm): the $500 DIS deposit becomes non-refundable the day you enroll for courses for your DIS program.
    • School for Field Studies (SFS) programs: the $500 SFS deposit becomes non-refundable once SFS notifies the student of their acceptance.
  • If you are not accepted into a program, your deposit will be credited to your student account.
  • No request for refund will be considered after the commencement of the program.
