An Elon application is required for every Elon global engagement program. Some programs may also require an additional application in order to be considered for the program. All online applications are due by 11:59 PM on the advertised deadline date.

 

Study USA fall and summer 2019 programs now accepting applications through November 15.

Spring and calendar year 2019 program application deadline EXTENDED to September 18.

 

Fall 2019 Semester Programs

Fall 2019 Deadlines

Early Action Period:

Study USA: September 11 to 11:59 p.m. on November 15.

Study Abroad: October 9 to 11:59 p.m. on November 15.

All applications completed in the Early Action Period will be reviewed by December 4.

Rolling Period: December 4 to 11:59 PM on February 14.

All applications completed in the Rolling Period will be reviewed within two weeks of submission.

Exceptions:


GEC Access Scholarship

All applications for a GEC Access Scholarship are now part of the pre-decision application for all outgoing Study Abroad and Study USA programs as well as Independent Program (IP) applications. Non-Elon Petitions are not eligible for the GEC Access Scholarship.

  • Students must apply by February 14 to guarantee consideration for the GEC Access Scholarship even if the program deadline is after this date.
  • Students that apply during the Early Action Period will be notified by December.
  • Students that apply during the Rolling Period will be notified in April.

Cancellation
  • Cancellations must be submitted in writing to the Global Education Center. 
  • The $400 deposit paid upon application is refundable until the first day of registration the semester preceding the Study Abroad or Study USA program.
  • The deposit becomes non-refundable, then, on the first day of registration the semester preceding the Study Abroad or Study USA program. Students who cancel on or after this date may also be held liable for any costs incurred on their behalf by Elon or the affiliate or host university, which may include up to the total program cost.
  • If you are not accepted into a program, your deposit will be credited to your student account.
  • No request for refund will be considered after the commencement of the program.

Global Short-Term Programs (fall 2018 travel-embedded, Winter Term 2019, and spring 2019 travel-embedded)

2018-2019 Global Short-Term Program Deadlines

Note: These deadlines include fall 2018 travel-embedded, Winter Term 2019, and spring 2019 travel-embedded programs.

*Note: Peru: Wilderness and Adventure Therapy travel-embedded program has different final deadline.

  • February 20: Programs revealed at Open House, 12-6 p.m. GEC, Global Commons 360.
  • March 5: Priority application period begins.
  • March 15, 11:59 p.m. EDT: Priority period deadline. All applications received during the priority period are reviewed for eligibility and merit rather than time of submission.
  • March 27: Status notification for students that applied by the priority deadline.

    Change period begins.
     Students that applied by the priority deadline can change into an open program by completing a Change Form (available in the GEC starting March 27).
  • March 29: Rolling period begins. All programs with spots remaining will reopen for application. New applications will be reviewed on a rolling and space-available basis.
  • May 3, 11:59 p.m. EDT: Final application and deposit credit deadline for Peru: Wilderness and Adventure Therapy fall travel-embedded program. Students that cancel after this date will not have the deposit credited to their account.
  • Sept. 3, 11:59 p.m. EDT: Final application and deposit credit deadline. Students accepted to programs that cancel after this date will not have the deposit credited to their account.
  • Sept. 4, 5 p.m. EDT: Final deadline for students on a wait list to enroll in an open program. No students will be accepted into programs off of wait lists after this date. Students that are not accepted into programs will have the deposit credited to their account after this date.

First-year students and transfer students are eligible to apply online for short-term programs as soon as they have been assigned an Elon University ID and email address, which is approximately June 1. Contact global@elon.edu with any questions.


GEC Access Scholarship

Cancellation Policy

Cancelling your participation in a program can only be done by completing a cancellation form and submitting it to the Global Education Center. Students submitting a cancellation form for Global Short-term Programs are subject to the following payment schedule:

*Note: Peru: Wilderness and Adventure Therapy travel-embedded program has a different Cancellation Policy.

  • Sept. 3, 2018: Students accepted to Global Short-term programs that cancel after this date will not have the deposit refunded.
  • Sept. 29, 2018: Full payment deadline for Global Short-term programs.
  • Oct. 1 – Oct. 15, 2018: Students that cancel within these dates are responsible the deposit and all nonrefundable costs.
  • Oct. 16, 2018: Students that cancel on or after this date are responsible for the full program cost.

Note: You are responsible for the costs noted above if you cancel regardless of whether you have paid the program fees at the time of cancellation.

Deposit Refunds – If you have paid the deposit and are cancelling your participation prior to the deposit refund deadline, the amount will remain as a credit on your account to be applied towards the following semester’s billing.  If you have any questions about your deposit, you may contact the Bursar’s office at bursar@elon.edu or 336-278-5300.


Peru: Wilderness and Adventure Therapy 2018 Travel-embedded Cancellation Deadlines

To cancel your participation in a program, complete the Short-Term Program Withdrawal questionnaire in your application.

  • May 3, 2018: Deposit refund deadline.  Students that cancel after this date will not have the deposit refunded.
  • May 4 – Aug. 1, 2018: Students that cancel between these dates are responsible for the deposit and any nonrecoverable expenses.
  • Aug. 1, 2018: full payment deadline.
  • As of Aug. 2, 2018: Students that cancel on or after this date are responsible for the full program cost.

A student is still responsible for costs noted above if they cancel regardless of whether they have paid the program fees at the time of cancellation.

This program will be billed with the fall tuition bill.
