While everyone in the Isabella Cannon Global Education Center (GEC) is happy to support you, the International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) Team are those members of staff that work most closely with the international community.

Meet the team:

Kristen Aquilino (she/her)

Director of International Student Services

At a young age, Kristen began exploring the globe. She continued to feed her cultural curiosity by studying abroad in Santiago, Chile, later followed by teaching abroad in Sevilla, Spain. Upon returning to the U.S., Kristen earned a Master’s in International Education Policy and was introduced to her current work through a graduate assistantship within International Student and Scholar Services.

Here at Elon, Kristen, alongside her colleagues, works to support the international community, and enjoys the learning that takes place every step of the way. She has advised courses in Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic with the iMedia program, and co-taught Wilderness and Adventure Therapy courses in Peru and Tanzania. For fun, you’ll find Kristen outside on a trail, playing with her dog, on her yoga mat or trying a new baked treat!

Denise Teeters

International Student Services Coordinator

Prior to joining the International Student Services Team, Denise worked at Elon’s Center for Access and Success for five years supporting First-Gen students. There she found her passion for mentoring students in higher education and is excited to continue her work at Elon by supporting the international community.

Denise speaks fluent Spanish and has enjoyed exploring the country of Honduras while visiting family. She also enjoys spending time with her family, reading books, and all things Disney!
