Jack McKeon '63 led the Florida Marlins to victory in the World Series in 2003. At age 72, McKeon was the oldest manager to reach the World Series.
Ashton Newhall ’98 is the founding general partner of an international vent
ure capital firm and has raised more than $450 million working with three venture capital partnerships. Newhall has identified startup businesses in China, India, England and the United States.
Rich Blomquist '00 joined the writing staff of "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" in 2003. He was part of the team that won the Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Program in 2003, 2004 and 2005.
Jo Craven McGinty '85 was a member of a reporting team at The Washington Post that captured the Pulitzer Prize Gold Award for Public Service in 1999. She also helped produce a series for The New York Times that won the 2005 Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting.
Frank Haith '88 is the head men's basketball coach at the University of Miami.
Nick Cooper '94 is making a name for himself in Hollywood as a singer and vocal coach. In addition to performing on "American Idol," "Good Morning America" and "The Tonight Show," Cooper has coached clients such as Beyonce Knowles and Jada Pinkett-Smith.
Alex Ellis '05 landed the lead role in a national Broadway tour. Just months after graduating from Elon, she began touring as Millie in the Broadway play "Thoroughly Modern Millie."
Donna Hill Oliver ’72 was named North Carolina Teacher of the Year in 1986 and National Teacher of the Year in 1987.
Kenneth Utt ’42 won the Academy Award for his work as producer of “The Silence of the Lambs.” He also produced “Philadelphia,” “Midnight Cowboy” and “The French Connection.”
Laith al-Majali ’05 edited and produced “Captain Abu Raed,” winner of the 2008 Sundance Film Festival’s World Cinema Audience Award. The film was the first to emerge fro
m Majali’s native Jordan in 50 years.
Douglas Finberg ’94 is the senior vice president of international marketing for Paramount Pictures. His credits include, "Kung Fu Panda," "Iron Man," "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull " and "Mission Impossible 3."
Candyce Marsh ’03 is the owner and founder of Candyce Marsh Racing. Marsh is the first African American woman to compete in a professional drag race.
Deborah Yow ’74 is the first woman to head the Division 1A Athletic Directors’ Association.
