Class Status and Housing Selection Processes

Housing Selection processes use “prior terms lived on” as our indicator for which class year students should select housing with.

  • Rising Sophomores: As of the spring term when housing selection occurs, are defined as any student with one prior term lived on (typically the fall term prior).
  • Rising Juniors and Seniors: As of the spring term when housing selection occurs, are defined as any student with MORE than one prior term lived on.
  • NOTE:
    • The current term does NOT count towards the “prior terms lived on”
    • Summer and winter terms do NOT count towards “prior terms lived on”, only fall/spring terms do

These prior terms define what buildings students are eligible for as well as which selection process they will participate in. For example, Juniors and Seniors select housing first and are eligible for Station at Mill Point and Park Place. Sophomores select last and are NOT qualified for Station at Mill Point and Park Place.

Mixed Class Roommate Groups

Students who are rising Sophomores may be pulled UP into groups in the rising Juniors/Seniors selection process (unless those groups are in Park Place/Station at Mill Point, as rising Sophomores are not eligible to live there). However, Juniors/Seniors may NOT be pulled DOWN into groups within the rising Sophomore selection process as we will have already met our cap for rising Juniors/Seniors bed spaces during the previous process.
