25th Anniversary Celebration

As part of the university’s 2025 Homecoming festivities, the School of Communications commemorated the 25th anniversary of its founding with an afternoon of programming on Oct. 10 in Snow Family Grand Atrium.
The afternoon kicked off with the Don’t be a Stranger to Networking event, a casual, low-stakes networking opportunity featuring more than a dozen alumni. Afterward, the school honored Asha Michelle Wilson ’13, a celebrated showrunner, writer and co-executive producer, with the Outstanding Alumna Award. Carter is the 15th recipient of the award.
The celebration continued with remarks from Founding Dean Paul Parsons and current Dean Kenn Gaither acknowledging the school’s journey to national success and prominence.
“Turning 25 isn’t a date and it’s not really a time,” Gaither said during his closing remarks. “It’s more of a state – a state of becoming something bigger, better and bolder. The School of Communications stands strong because of the people who have built, supported and believed in it. This anniversary is theirs as much as it is ours.”
Lastly, the celebration concluded with a celebratory video – see below – produced by Bryan Baker.
