Important Information for the Weekend

Dress: Business Casual. Be comfortable; however, jeans and T-shirts are not appropriate.

Interview: An interview is required for competition. Come prepared and enjoy the weekend. Elon faculty look forward to meeting students and value the interviews as a time to introduce the Elon community.

Past questions include:

  • What are some of the most pressing issues in today’s global community? How would you address those issues?
  • What are some of the national issues facing your potential field of study?
  • How do you think technology will change the American culture in the next 10 years?
  • What activities have you been involved in that have significantly contributed to who you are today? How have these activities prepared you to be a Fellow?

Core Curriculum Seminar: All Elon students, regardless of major, take courses in Elon’s Core Curriculum program. These courses provide a liberal arts foundation for all academic disciplines. Scholarship Weekend seminars are representative of Elon’s Core Curriculum and are taught by faculty from various disciplines. Candidates may or may not be scheduled for a seminar in their intended discipline.

Recommendations

The Honors Fellows program requires one recommendation, and the Engineering Scholars requires two recommendations. If you are not competing for Honors or Engineering, please do not send a recommendation.

Honors Fellows & Engineering candidates: teacher recommenders will receive an email in early-February with instructions on how to submit the recommendation electronically by March 4.
