Truitt Center Mission and Vision

The Truitt Center supports and engages the Elon community with the wisdom of the world’s religious, spiritual, and ethical traditions.

We cultivate spaces & relationships to:

  • Engage collaboratively in the affirmation of identities, the practice of faith, the celebration of traditions, and the deepening of value
  • Educate through the sharing, exploring, and questioning of diverse worldviews
  • Empower individuals and communities to embrace purpose, inclusivity, and service to others
  • Encourage each other through radical hospitality, compassionate mentorship, and respectful spiritual care.

The Truitt Center vision is to enrich the campus and the world. We will intentionally create relationships, spaces, and opportunities for all members of the Elon community to holistically engage with diverse systems of meaning and value.

Multifaith Engagement

Interfaith Engagement and Multifaith understanding are central to our mission and to Elon University’s commitment to inclusive excellence and global citizenship. Our campus spaces include the Numen Lumen Pavilion, Meditation Garden, Holt Chapel, the Labyrinth, and a Muslim Prayer room at the Law School.

Our ten year Multifaith Strategic Plan sets a bold course to make Elon a more religiously diverse, equitable, and inclusive campus and community. Through this plan, the university will support opportunities for multifaith learning and engagement for all members of the Elon academic community, and articulate the value and importance of multifaith learning, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Our programs include the annual Ripple Interfaith Conference, an ecumenical Spring Break, and our series of festivals and celebrations from diverse traditions.

Our cohort of Multifaith Interns help plan and lead many of our programs, and our Spirit and Pride Interns support the spiritual lives of LGBTQIA+ students.
