Internship requirements

Students must:

  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least a 2.0
  • Complete prerequisites of COM 1000 and 2000; COM 2200 is recommended
  • Work at least 80 hours per enrolled credit hour (one or two credit hours is allowed)
  • Work at least four weeks; more time is highly encouraged
  • Engage in a new experience (students cannot repeat an internship for additional credit)

  • The supervisor must be a professional with expertise in the discipline at an established organization (not a family member, friend or current student)
  • Work can be on-site (eligible on-campus internships are accepted), remote or hybrid, but interns cannot work in a business operated in a private residence
