In addition to the base charge for housing, which can be found on the Bursar’s Tuition and Fees website, Residence Life assess a few other fees as follows:

  • Enrollment Deposit: A $500 fee students pay as part of the Admissions process to ensure enrollment and start the process to secure a room.
    • Any questions related to this deposit should be directed to the Office of Admissions.
  • Housing Security Deposit: $200 of the enrollment deposit is used to pay the housing security deposit that is billed to each incoming student when they secure campus housing.
    • Please note: This security deposit is NOT applied to damage billing fees each year.  That is a separate process, and all damage fees are expected to be paid as they are accrued on the Student Account per your housing agreement.
    • The housing security deposit will only be credited back to the student account when they have met one of the following criteria:
      • Graduation from the University
      • Moving off-campus to non-Elon housing
      • Withdrawal from the University prior to Graduation
    • Once the account has been finalized with the Bursar’s Office, the $200 will go to any outstanding unpaid fees.  If there is nothing owed back to the University, you will receive the $200 back from the Bursar’s Office.
    • Any questions related to this deposit should be directed to the Bursar’s Office.
  • Housing Reservation Fee: A $125 fee rising Juniors and Seniors deposit to participate in Housing Selection processes. More information on this fee, housing selection, and how to request a refund can be found here.
    • The $125 housing reservation fee will be used to credit their upcoming fall bill.
    • Any questions related to this deposit should be directed to Residence Life.
