The Elon Law Tax Preparation Program coordinates law student volunteers who contribute to an annual IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance tax preparation program (or similar service oriented tax preparation initiative) to benefit community members who could not otherwise afford competent professional tax preparation.

In doing so, this organization provides experience and basic tax preparation training for students interested in tax law.

The program’s partnership with AARP-Tax Aide provides fee tax preparation assistance to taxpayers and is staffed by student volunteers, as well volunteers from the AARP.

Students can work as few or as many hours as their schedules permit. Located in the Student Organization space on Friendly Avenue, participating law students earn pro bono hours for their service and have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the local community. Prior experience in tax preparation is NOT necessary. All class levels are welcome and encouraged to participate, and both tax-preparation AND administrative volunteers are needed.
