Welcome to the Elon College Fellows Living and Learning Community (ECF LLC)!

This living-learning community brings together Elon College Fellows to share intellectual and social pursuits in Elon’s Historic Neighborhood. You were carefully selected to be part of this LLC, so please treat it as an honor and as an opportunity to learn about Elon University and the rest of the world through your interactions and engagement with fellow residents, cultural events, speakers, concerts, and other activities–both within Historic Neighborhood and beyond.

This unique community fosters cross-cultural appreciation, respect for diversity, and curiosity and awareness about international trends and issues. It is a multicultural environment that values difference and shares Elon University’s priority of internationalizing the campus through advancing intercultural learning and competencies.

Our Goals

• Create a community that serves as a social network and intellectual resource to help students succeed inside and outside of the classroom.
• Take advantage of campus activities and make interdisciplinary connections, encouraging discussion and reflection.
• Bring together Elon College Fellows with common challenges to share solutions in a collaborative environment.
• Connect students to a faculty director, to faculty advisors, and to a resident assistant (RA) who also shares these interests and who will work to build relationships around areas of mutual interest.
• Learn from differences and the diversity among the residents.
• Integrate classroom themes with residential conversations and planned programming in an intentional, learning-centered community.

Activities

To remain in good standing in this LLC, your participation in activities is highly encouraged. You should try to attend at least one or two events from each category, but the more the better!

Your RA and Dr. Ilyssa Salomon will reach out with other opportunities to connect throughout the year, so please make sure you regularly check your emails and the LLC discord. Descriptions of reoccurring events and traditions are located below.

Reoccurring Events & Traditions

• Confections & Connections – Faculty Advisor Hosted Event
  Every Monday, Dr. Ilyssa Salomon will hold a study hall from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in Lindner 207. Feel free to come get some work done and catch up. If hanging out with your faculty advisor doesn’t sound appealing enough, there will also be a big bowl of candy.
• ECF Early Birds – Faculty Advisor-Hosted Event
  On the first Thursday of each month, come and grab some coffee and donuts in the Cannon Pavilion lounge from 8:00 – 9:00 a.m. Come drop by, grab some breakfast, and say hello!
• Mug Brownie Movie Mondays – Resident Assistant-Hosted Event
  Every first Monday of the month, enjoy a fresh brownie and watch a movie with your LLC community in the downstairs kitchen at 6:00 p.m. Please bring your own mug, brownies will be supplied!
• Game Night – Resident Assistant-Hosted Event
  The last Friday of the month, join your LLC community for game night in the Cannon Pavilion lounge at 6:00 p.m.
• Sunday S’mores – Historic Neighborhood Event
  Every Sunday, embrace the sweetest tradition of the Historic Neighborhood and enjoy some s’mores outside McEwen at the fire pit from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.
