Mission and Goals

The purpose of the Elon University School of Law chapter of the National Lawyers Guild is to eliminate racism; to safeguard and strengthen the rights of workers, women, farmers, and minority groups; to maintain and protect civil rights and liberties; and to use the law as an instrument for the protection of the people, rather than for their repression.  Our goal is to create a legal system that is progressive, rather than passive, and ultimately promotes human rights above property interests.  We seek to educate ourselves and the public about issues affecting social and economic justice, unite law students with like-minded professionals to create opportunities in support of these goals, participate in Greensboro’s rich history of activism by training and acting as legal observers, and serve as a progressive voice for the Elon University School of Law.
