Need-Based Scholarships

There are several need-based scholarship opportunities available to qualified Elon students. Download a PDF version of the Elon University Endowed Scholarship application.

Apply online. The deadline to apply is February 14.

These scholarships are for first-time freshmen who have documented financial need. For consideration as a scholarship recipient, students must complete the Elon University Endowed Scholarship Application and all required financial aid forms: the FAFSA, CSS Profile and the Elon University Financial Aid Application.

The ideal candidate is a student who is poised to take advantage of an Elon education, but for whom this possibility might not be an option for financial reasons. He or she will will have good preparation for college, but even stronger academic potential.

The selection process will give preference to students who meet as many as possible of the following criteria:

• Are the first members of their family to attend college
• Have not had the opportunity for enriching educational or personal experiences due to personal circumstances or the socio-economic climate of their community
• Have achieved success despite hardship or unusual challenge
• Will bring cultural or socio-economic diversity to Elon
• Exhibit excellent potential to benefit from an Elon education 

Students who complete the Elon University Endowed Scholarship application will automatically be considered for each of the following scholarship opportunities:

• The Susan Scholarship
• The John L. Georgeo Scholarship
• The Mac Mahon Family Scholarship
• The Margaret Ann Hall Scholarship

For North Carolina residents

• The Leon and Lorraine Watson North Carolina Scholarship
• The Honorable Thad Eure North Carolina Achievement Scholarship
