Collaborating with Residence Life and Flyer Distribution
Collaborating with Residence Life and Flyer Distribution
Advertising events in our residence halls, houses, and apartments is a great way to market events to students. Flyer distribution is a service offered by Residence Life at no cost to the campus community. Residential advertising can be used in conjunction with other services offered on campus such as the Moseley Center Physical Bulletin Boards and Digital Displays in addition to Elon News Network (ENN) and Today at Elon to ensure effective and complete coverage of advertising for your campus events/activities. For campus wide advertising policies, please see: https://www.elon.edu/u/moseley-center/posting-policies/flyers-posters-and-signs/
Collaboration Opportunities
Reach out to Residence Life (residencelife@elon.edu) to get connected to specific neighborhood staff. Let us know if you, your organization, office, or department are interested in:
- Hosting events in the residence halls or apartments – working with Residence Life staff to host an event
- Non-academic spaces in our residence halls can be reserved through each Neighborhood Office
- Collaborating with the Residence Hall Association (RHA) on campus wide residential events
- Connecting with a specific neighborhood’s Student Neighborhood Association (SNA) to host events or connect with students in specific neighborhoods
- Residence Life Neighborhood leadership – the Community Director and Faculty Director in each neighborhood work together to shape the overall community development of each neighborhood and host Neighborhood traditions, weekly and monthly events, and also work with the student staff in each neighborhood to plan smaller events and activities throughout the year. Neighborhood planning often occurs a semester in advance so connect with Community Directors in the Spring or early Summer to collaborate on Fall neighborhood events or in late Fall to collaborate on Winter or Spring events
- Connect with specific Living-Learning Communities (LLCs): Elon has 28 living-learning communities, each led by faculty or staff advisors who plan out an LLC syllabus and LLC events/activities each year along with the LLC resident assistant (LLC RA)
Residential Digital Displays
There are several digital displays in our residence halls that showcase upcoming campus events and opportunities. Digital displays are currently located in:
- Global residence halls
- East residence halls
- Janice Ratliff Residence Life Central Office
Details about submitting content for Digital Displays can be reviewed here: https://elon.teamdynamix.com/TDClient/1947/Portal/KB/ArticleDet?ID=136842
Residential Flyer Distribution
Important notes:
All flyers/posters will be assessed for content appropriateness to ensure the University Honor Code guidelines are being followed.
Only Residence Life staff are approved to post inside our residential facilities.
Individual student room doors in campus housing are not part of the designated areas for posting. We are unable to take requests to post flyers or “door decs” on doors in campus housing.
Flyer instructions:
Refer to the number of flyers needed for each neighborhood below.
- Once printed and counted, sort flyers by the 8 neighborhoods in individual stacks – Colonnades (includes EcoVillage), Danieley, East, Global (includes Trollinger), Historic Neighborhood, Loy, Station at Millpoint (includes Crest), and Oaks (includes Park Place).
- Paperclip or binder clip and label by area. (Ex. post-it note or paper clip an attached note with the name of the area written on each stack of flyers)
- Sorting supplies must be provided by the organization/group; we cannot accept “loose” materials. Organizations must supply their own binder/paper clips and labeling materials, such as post-its.
- Bring or mail (2980 Campus Box) to the Residence Life Office – Janice Ratliff Building, Suite #101. Flyers should be brought to Residence Life at least one week prior to the event (two weeks preferred).
- If the event/program is for a specific group or section of campus such as Upperclass students or First Year students only, please call or come by the office (Janice Ratliff Building) and discuss the group/locations to distribute. The number of flyers needed will be different for limited audiences. Call Residence Life at 336-278-7300 or come by our Central Office in Janice Ratliff to discuss your flyer distribution needs.
