North Carolina Teaching
Fellows
Be sure to visit the Teaching Fellows Web
site.
With national
and state Teachers of the Year among Elon's graduates,
the university is well known for its outstanding teacher
education curriculum.
As a Fellow, you will be challenged by enriching experiences and a curriculum that is distinguished by many features:
- Get real classroom experience early and often -- as a freshman, you will begin observing veteran teachers in local schools.
- Take unique Winter Term travel courses throughout the Eastern Seaboard to gain firsthand a new perspective on U.S. history and the federal government.
- Study in London or Costa Rica for a semester to gain a global view of education and work with students from a variety of backgrounds.
- Learn from supportive faculty mentors who will challenge and inspire you to become a leader in education.
Who
should apply?
Outstanding future teachers who are
U.S. citizens and North Carolina residents should consider
applying. See your guidance counselor for an application,
which is due at the end of October.
North Carolina
Teaching Fellows are selected in a statewide competition
conducted by the N.C. Teaching Fellows Commission. Elon
admits 25 Teaching Fellows annually. (Note: Music education
majors must also complete a department audition in
conjunction with their admission to Elon.)
