Honors Program

Exceptionally motivated students seeking a premier program with academic challenges find themselves at home in the Honors Program. The Honors Program is open to students in any major.

Learning Opportunities

The Honors Program participants will have exceptional learning opportunities such as these:

  • Special courses and faculty mentoring
  • Housing options such as a living-learning community for Honors Program
  • Paid research assistantships or internships
  • Opportunity to study abroad over Winter Term in your first year
  • Scholarships of $13,500 per year, plus a $10,000 Presidential Scholarship and one-time $1,000 Global Study grant

Applying for the Honors Program

  • Complete and submit The Common Application or an Elon University application by November 1 if applying Early Decision or Early Action or by November 25 for Regular Deadline.
  • Students applying to the Honors Program may access the application via their Elon Acorn Account (admissions.elon.edu/status) following submission of the first-year application.
  • Honors Program application must be submitted no later than December 1.
  • Students pursuing dual-degree or accelerated programs are ineligible for the Honors Program
  • Honors Program applications are reviewed after December 1. Finalists the Honors Program are selected by faculty committees.

Fellows Programs

Elon offers these challenging programs:

  • Business Fellows for majors in accounting, business analytics, economic consulting, economics and innovation, entrepreneurship, finance, human resource management, international business, marketing, project management or supply chain management
  • Communications Fellows for majors in journalism, strategic communications, cinema and television arts, communication design, media analytics and sport management
  • Elon College Fellows for majors in the arts and humanities, social sciences and natural and mathematical sciences
  • Engineering Fellows for students majoring in engineering
  • Isabella Cannon Leadership Fellows for students in any major who want to maximize their leadership potential
  • Nursing Fellows for students majoring in nursing
  • Teaching Fellows for majors in education and teacher licensure programs

  • Scholarships are $7,500, plus a one-time Global Study grant

Applying for Fellows Programs

The following information might be helpful as you consider applying for the Fellows Programs:

  • To access the Scholarship application via your Elon Acorn Account, you must first submit a first-year application before January 10.
  • First-year applications must be submitted before January 10 to apply for Fellows.
  • Fellows applications must be submitted no later than January 15.
  • Students may apply for one school-based (Business, Elon College, Communications or Teaching Fellows) and one non-school-based (Honors or Isabella Cannon Leadership Fellows) program. Engineering majors can apply for Engineering Fellows and one non-school based program. Students enrolled in dual-degree or accelerated programs are ineligible for Fellows programs.
  • All applications are reviewed after January 15. Fellows finalists are selected by faculty committees. If you are a finalist, you will be invited in February 2024 to Fellows Weekend, which is March 1 and 2.
  • Students enrolled in dual-degree or accelerated programs are ineligible for Fellows Programs.

Scholars Programs

Elon offers these exciting programs:

  • Change Makers Scholars for students interested in civic engagement and creating solutions to real-world issues
  • Cheer Scholars for students interested in competitive cheerleading and supporting NCAA Division I Phoenix Athletics
  • Dance Scholars for students on Elon’s Dance Team and who are interested in supporting NCAA Division I Phoenix Athletics
  • Data Analytics Scholars for students in any major interested in studying data analytics
  • Elon Sports Vision Scholars for students interested in the sports industry
  • Elon Vocal Scholars for musically talented students dedicated to service through singing
  • Health Professions Scholars for students interested in preparing for careers in health-related fields
  • Innovation Scholars for students interested in finding their creative or entrepreneurial passions
  • Legal Professions Scholars for students interested in preparing for legal careers
  • Public Health Scholars for students interested in becoming leaders in public-health related disciplines
  • Renaissance Scholars for students interested in exploring and celebrating the rich tapestry of the African Diaspora.
