Civic & Community Engagement

  1. Develop a strategy to increase first-year student participation in civic and community engagement experiences.

Inclusive Excellence

  1. Develop a multi-year strategy to expand and implement a comprehensive, cross-departmental set of dialogue experiences for students.
  2. Continue progress with implementing the Multifaith Strategic Plan, including:
    1. Fostering enhanced collaboration between student organizations and stronger integration of multifaith projects and initiatives with broader university efforts.
    2. Engaging chaplains in academic and residential spaces and programming
    3. Identifying and promoting facility spaces for spiritual, meditative, and contemplative practices

Integrated Health & Well-Being

  1. Finalize the HealthEU 2-year priorities document and implement the initial goals.
  2. Complete institutional adoption of the Okanagan Charter and host a celebratory signing ceremony, formally joining the international community of health-promoting universities.
  3. Design a comprehensive integration strategy to further integrate that weaves the six dimensions of well-being throughout campus programs and services, academic curricula, and co-curricular experiences.
  4. Create and begin to execute a transition plan for the new HealthEU Center opening, developing facility management protocols and operational systems that optimize access to programs and services, facility utilization, and community engagement.
  5. Re-energize the Hazing Prevention Coalition to focus on student well-being and meeting the new “Stop Campus Hazing Act” requirements.

Leadership Development Through Engagement

  1. Develop a common leadership framework to be implemented through training and development experiences across various student leadership roles and student employment positions.
  2. Expand the Elon GROW program to include all student employment positions in the Division of Student Life.
  3. Implement initiatives developed by the EET Innovation Team:
    1. Share the FIRE Toolkit (Facilitating Integration and Reflection of the Elon Experience) for the EET with Student Life staff for their use with individual students and student groups.
    2. Increase awareness of EET within university initiatives (Elon 1010, FYE, Phoenix Flight Path, etc.).

Mentoring & Student Success

  1. Develop peer mentor training resources and make them available to campus departments and student organization leaders.
  2. Collaborate with Academic Affairs to implement student success and retention strategies:
    1. Implement and assess student success coaching models designed to support first-year to second-year retention, establishing evidence-based practices that can be scaled across the undergraduate experience.
    2. Develop and execute population-specific retention plans for populations with a historic retention rate of 85% or less.
    3. Expand and optimize utilization of the Student Success Dashboard among designated success teams, including faculty advisors, mentors, and supervisors.
    4. Design a comprehensive system of structured student check-ins and micro-interventions spanning from matriculation through graduation, integrating proactive academic support, faculty mentorship, resource development, and success coaching at critical transition points.
    5. Create specialized programs and services to enhance belonging for students demonstrating low connection indicators following their eighth week of enrollment, focusing on community building and engagement strategies.
    6. Establish a third-year persistence initiative that identifies and addresses factors impacting student retention from second fall to third fall.
    7. Strengthen retention support for students taking medical or personal leaves through enhanced communication protocols and comprehensive support before, during, and after leave periods.

Residential Campus Experience

  1. Enhance graduate student support through comprehensive resources and communication systems, including:
    1. Develop pre-enrollment resource platform for graduate students, including the exploration of online orientation modules like Elon Bound.
    2. Create and launch a web-based housing resource platform that assists graduate and undergraduate and graduate students in identifying off-campus housing options in Elon/Burlington, Greensboro, and Charlotte markets.
    3. Compile and systematically communicate health and well-being resources specifically tailored to graduate student needs and schedules.
  2. Develop a proposal and timeline for implementation of restorative practices, including: building faculty/staff awareness of restorative practice models and concepts and piloting a restorative process model for building community and responding to bias incidents and/or residential conflicts.
  3. Develop a 3-5 year housing occupancy plan that accounts for enrollment expectations and explores the implementation of a three-year housing requirement.
  4. Work with Planning Design and Construction Management on key facility plans:
    1. Contribute to planning and design for future use of Koury Athletic Center.
    2. Contribute to planning and development of potential graduate student housing project in Greensboro.
    3. Complete design and fundraising for a new facility for Catholic Life.

Organizational & Operational Excellence

  1. Formally launch the new Student Life Five Year Plan (2025-2030) and determine strategies for monitoring implementation.
  2. Identify and implement specific strategies to optimize the effectiveness of technology and software systems used to support processes, services, and programs across the division.
  3. Support university-wide efforts to establish comprehensive pre-college programs, which requires the creation of a comprehensive operational framework for summer day and overnight programs, including housing arrangements, dining services, facility utilization, staffing requirements, and safety protocols that ensure high-quality experiences and sustainable program delivery.
